How I Spent My Weekend

When we moved into this house 5 years ago, Ruthie wanted a pink room. Now, as an almost-10 year old, she is rather tired of the pink. Since it was a glow-into-the-hallway pink, I can't say I blame her.

So, Griff and I spent this past weekend painting. On Saturday we primed over the original walls and I painted door trim. Sunday we painted with the finish paint. We still need to paint the baseboards before we can move the furniture back.

Saturday night I discovered that I am not as young as I used to be. My back and my painting arms were really aching. Sunday morning was even worse. I eventually worked out the kinks, but boy do I miss the days when I could paint all day and barely feel it.

There are other things we plan to do to her room.
  • white beadboard up to chair rail height
  • new furniture - bed, dresser, bedside table
  • new curtains
  • built-in desk and shelves (maybe)
I love the look of blue and white - it's so crisp and clean. I think it's going to look very nice when it's all done.

It looks very nice! What is the actually name of the color of blue. It looks like a color my dd would love.

I understand those aches and pains from bending, reaching, etc. from painting. :o) Hope your back to feeling yourself now. :o) (almost said "old", but thought that wouldn't look to good. LOL )

Have a wonderful week!

That's what M wants me to do. She wants me to paint her room. ;) We are still hashing out the details, though. I want her to do pink. ;) But pink stripes... or pink and lime green. :) She wants lime and brown (chocolate). ;) Hey - one of two isn't bad. At least we can agree on the lime. Of course... we would do a very MILD shade of it.

Tina - It's Behr paint from Home Depot. The color is Morning Breeze - 560A-2.

Sprittibee - Our problem with the pink was that I was trying to match a very vivid pink in Ruth's comforter. I went a couple of shades lighter, but it was still too dark. Mild is good.

Tell M I like the idea of lime green and chocolate. Sounds very pretty! :)

The room looks good! I painted my youngest dd's room a light/med blue too. Instead of new furniture we painted the existing bunbeds to a nice french white, added curtains and some nifty flower lights from Ikea.
