Scrapbook Layout

Inspired by Tami at Ambleside Classical Academy, I have been looking into digital scrapbooking. My biggest problem was two-fold.
  • I don't have Photoshop
  • I'm on an iMac (which I love!) and most digital scrapping software does not run on this platform
We do, however, have GIMP. After looking around the internet, I found instructions for using it with digital scrapping here. Oh, happy day!

So, after an evening spent with the learning curve, I've created this.

I am very happy with it. Now I just need to print it, which is a whole other issue! LOL

Rhonda!

Welcome to the digital world of scrapbooking! Your layout is beautiful - I can't believe it's your FIRST one!

As far as printing, some resize to 8x8", and print out on 8 1/2 x 11 photo paper. Then cut off the excess and stick in an 8x8 album.

I still haven't figured out GIMP or Photoshop. You are way ahead of me! Wonderful work, Mom!

Tami,

Thanks! :)

I had a basic design that I went by, but it still took me hours and hours to do. I know I'll get faster, though.

I've seen mention of 8x8 printing, but I'm not sure I want to give up the 12x12 completely. I'm still scrapping with paper, which is part of the problem. I could definitely do 8x8 albums for the grandparents for Christmas. They would love that.

Rhonda,

Congrats on your first digital layout! Awesome job!!! And welcome to the wonderful world of digital from yet another Tammy. (I'm also a native Texan, by the way...I noticed your name on the wtmboards is 'Rhonda in TX'...)

As for printing 12x12, I believe Costco has the best price on that size. Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see more! :)

Tammy,

Thanks! I'm really enjoying digital scrapbooking.

I haven't been able to find a Costco near me that prints 12x12, but I'm still looking.
